The Warrior Covert QR5 Pro hockey stick is new for 2022 and showcases Warrior’s updated approach to their popular low kick line. It features many new and returning tech and materials, including a QREdge taper, a FuelCore Ultra Blade, Minimus Carbon UD, an RLC 188 construction, and SlideGrip technology over the shaft. As a result of combining what worked on the previous Covert stick with what works on the ever-popular Alpha LX, Warrior has developed their most advanced Covert stick yet.
Stick Flex Profile
The Covert line is classified as a low to ultra-low kick point hockey stick, amplified by the QREdge taper near the hosel. This taper takes a hexagonal shape to augment power and quick release, the latter of which is a staple of the low kick point. The hexagonal shape also includes more sides on the shaft, making that taper much more durable.
Shaft Construction & Stiffness
Warrior is well-known in the hockey and lacrosse worlds for constantly reworking their carbon construction and materials, and this stick’s shaft demonstrates their advancements in that area. Minimus Carbon UD is of Warrior’s own design and uses an incredibly light unidirectional carbon fibre weave that was also featured in the Alpha LX. The Revolutionary Lightweight Construction 188, or RLC 188, ensures the highest quality materials have been used in the sticks’ shaft to keep it light and ready to perform. Of these materials, RLC 188 includes lower-weight fibres and thermoplastic-toughened epoxy resin.
Blade Construction
The QR5 Pro stick uses a new, redesigned blade in the form of a FuelCore Ultra Blade, also seen in the Alpha line. Fusing Minimus Carbon 25 carbon weave with their polymer blade core, this blade is able to deliver exceptional durability, pop, and feel. The blade is also textured to enhance grip on the puck at ice level.
Graphics
This rendition of the Warrior Covert line is mainly orange at the top and black at the bottom, with blue and orange accents. The Covert, Warrior, and QR5 Pro logos are all visible on the shaft.
Grip
Warrior implemented SlideGrip into their highest-end Covert player stick. Although the name may sound contradictory, this design makes grasping the stick and maneuvering it easier and more efficient.
Blade Patterns, Flex & Stick Length
50 Flex (W03, W28, W88), L/R
40 Flex (W03, W28, W88), L/R

W03 is the best all-around blade pattern, with a mid-curve style. It is great at handling the puck in small spaces, including face-offs; however, this curve may suffer a little bit on the backhand.
W28 is a much more aggressive stick pattern, used often by elite players. This blade curve specializes in quick and accurate shots, but it can be a bit difficult to get used to since it is also very good at raising the puck.
W88 is a relatively traditional curve. A popular choice in the past, it excels greatly in stickhandling, quick wrist shots, and snappy backhands.
